In observance of July 4th, our general meeting will be rescheduled for July 20 at Poe Springs from 11a.m. to 2p.m. Please join us for a potluck picnic lunch and a swim or paddle.
Poe Springs is one of the least crowded county springs in the Gainesville region. It is ideal for small children since the water is shallow. Activities at Poe Springs include swimming, snorkeling, kayaking/canoeing, wild life viewing, playground, volleyball, softball, soccer, hiking, and nature trails. The spring basin is accessible either from the Santa Fe River, or from a boardwalk 1,000 feet from the parking area. The basin is up to 25 feet deep. The vent entrance is about 2 feet by 3 feet, and the cave is about 13 feet long. The park boasts 202 acres filled with scenic woodlands and rolling fields, located along the banks of the Santa Fe River. The well-maintained park features covered picnic pavilions, a playground, a soccer and softball field, volleyball courts, and plenty of amenities for picnicking.
The springs are located 3 miles west of High Springs on County Road 340. From High Springs, go north on U.S. Highway 27-41 to Poe Springs Road. Go west 2.5 miles to the park. Poe Springs is 27 miles northwest of Gainesville
