Senator Bill Nelson barnstormed into the Swamp for a few hours on October 24th to connect with students at the University of Florida. In a gathering at the Reitz Union he met with students and media for several hours before heading off to Stetson and Daytona. He began his remarks with the sentence “This election is critical…” to emphasize that his stands on the issues differ dramatically from those of his opponent. He reaffirmed his longtime opposition to drilling along Florida’s coastline. Since most of the people in attendance were students, he also talked about his efforts to reduce the debt burden on students. In particular, he has worked to cut the interest rate in half.
