In past few weeks, two local governments have passed resolutions that express concern about water management in their location.
The High Springs City Commision expressed concern about the state of the Sante Fe River and Poe springs and called on the governor, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Suwannee River Water Management Disctrict to protect the areas’s ground and surface water resources. The Wakulla County Commission passed a resolution that expressed similar concerns about Wakulla Spring and Spring creek. The board asked the Water Management District to develop an updated water budget for Wakulla and Spring Creek springs, establish minimum flow levels, and to deny any permit to pump and transport water out of the Wakully and Spring Creeks water shed and the Ochlocknee and St. Marks River.
