In 1867, John Muir, Botanist & later founder of Sierra Club, walked from Indiana across Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. He traversed the Florida wilds from Fernandina, through Gainesville and onto Cedar Key. In his published journal, A Thousand Mile Walk to the Gulf, his charming style shows us the wilderness, as well as the towns and people, of the South immediately after the Civil War.
We are excited to have Merald Clark, Park Ranger at Morningside Nature Center, at our next meeting to relive John Muir’s walk across Florida in his wonderful storytelling style.
Please join us. Free and open to the public. Doors open at 7:00pm, presentation begins at 7:30pm.
